Introduction: Image-guided bone biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure for detecting bone lesions. Imaging helps in defining the exact location and nature of the lesion. Histopathological examination of the biopsy specimen yields a precise diagnosis.
Aim: Herein, we aim to study the clinical profile, anatomical location, and histopathology of bone lesions and corroborate it with its radiological findings.
Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in the department of Oncopathology for a period of 1 year and 6 months. Clinical data and radiographic findings were obtained from 83 patients. Histopathological examination of the bone biopsy sample was carried out.
Result: About 83 cases were included, of which 33 were benign, 43 were malignant, and 7 were metastatic. There was a slight male preponderance. Pain with swelling was the most common symptom. Of the 83 cases, 70 (84.33%) showed correlation with radiological findings, while 13 (15.67%) were inconsistent. This association was found to be statistically significant (p = 0.0001).
Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of histopathology in conjunction with radiology in providing a precise diagnosis of bone lesions.
